A few of the 'Nilkuthi' that were used to prepare the blue during the East India Company period, this 'Kalabaria Nilkuthi' was one of those. At present, this 'kuthi' is known as Gazi Kuthi. The owner of this plant was indigo tax collector Dunlop. In this 'Kuthi', two houses were used for making blue, which can still be seen. The indigo tax collector used to indulge in inhuman torture on the indigo planters. Forcibly forced indigo cultivation. Indigenous Peelants Revolt started indiscriminately in the 'Nilkuthi'. This insignificant uprising against the indigo plantation took place in 1840. To see this 'Nilkuthi' you have to go to the southern edge of Kalabaria village under Kalia upazila of Narail district.
